Queen Anne’s Lace Rustic Portrait Session
Gatineau and Ottawa Portrait Photographer
I love shooting portraits in fields of flowering plants. And Queen Anne’s lace is on the top of my list of favourite types of plants to use for a backdrop. There’s a field beside my home in the country that is one of the most beautiful fields I’ve ever seen. It’s huge and each year it fills up with flowering weeds. Three years ago it filled up completely with Queen Anne’s lace. Last year it filled up with beautiful yellow ragweed. And this year it filled up with a mixture of the two. I wanted to show a few photos of the Queen Anne’s lace rustic portrait session that I shot of my family.
My husband hates getting his photos taken, so it’s only every few years that I’m able to get some family portraits taken of us. This was taken on the spur of the moment. Since this field is so close to our home, we can walk to it. As the sun was beginning to go down, I quickly picked out outfits for all three of us to wear. I tried to match without being too matchy-matchy. At least my makeup was done that day. The hair could have fared better, but at least it was washed and brushed.
This little photo session took no more than 15-20 minutes. I’m so thankful that I now have some more family portraits to cherish as well as hang on my walls. This is why I love to take family photos. I know that these will become family heirlooms for generations.
