Last week I shot the Gatineau autumn engagement photos of these two lovebirds. It was a chilly afternoon, but a pretty day. The leaves had changed a lot since the week before. There were lots of red leaves (my favourite colour in every sense) and the sun was out most of the time. Despite the chilly weather, we had fun on this photo shoot. It was great to see the fun chemistry between these two. There was never a dull moment during their shoot as it was filled with sarcasm and laughter. I look forward to photographing their winter wedding at the Mill Street Pub in Ottawa this January. Stay tuned.

A few weeks ago I shot some early autumn maternity photos Gatineau QC. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon. A little chilly, but beautiful. These two were awesome to work with. They did everything that I asked them to and brought some cute props. Just look at those adorable toddler cowgirl boots! Too cute. It was a great session. I love shooting maternity sessions. I’d love to be your maternity photographer.

I’m so happy to present Robert and Bailey’s Stonefields wedding photos. You can’t even believe how much I was looking forward to shooting Robert and Bailey’s Stonefields wedding. Like, seriously! I’ve been wanting to shoot a Stonefields wedding for years and I finally got the opportunity. Yay! For anyone not familiar with Stonefields, they’re a gorgeous wedding venue not far from Ottawa, Ontario.
The ceremony was very touching. Over the years I’ve seen a lot of wedding ceremonies. Perhaps because I’ve seen so many weddings, it’s rare that I cry at them. However, I was teary eyed listening to Robert and Bailey give their wedding vows. It was very touching. So was their handfasting ceremony. For those not familiar with a handfasting ceremony, handy dandy Google comes to the rescue to give a precise definition: “A handfasting ceremony has its roots in ancient Celtic tradition, symbolizing the binding together of two people (and the origin of the phrase ‘tying the knot!’).”
Super Mothers to the Rescue
I must mention a few things about Robert and Bailey’s wedding. First, let me just say that their mothers are AWESOME! Robert’s mother is a phenomenal baker. She made all of the desserts, including the wedding cake. Oh. my. goodness….the wedding cake was delicious! The layers were different flavours. I had a piece of lemon cake. It was the most lemony lemon cake I’ve ever had. This lady needs to start taking orders for cakes. I’m serious. And Bailey’s mom made the beautiful rustic decorations, like the wooden cake stands, the greenery and the cute paper decorations cut from book pages. Pinterest ideas were popping out all over the place. I loved it. Rustic weddings are my FAVOURITE kind of wedding style.
I gotta also mention that these guys and their friends know how to party. As you can see by the photos, they were going crazy while dancing to songs like, “The night Paddy Murphy Died” by Great Big Sea, “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” by Dropkick Murphys and “Home for a Rest” by Spirit of the West. My second shooter, Mara, and I had a total blast shooting their wedding.
This was a love story 15 years in the making. Their actual love story is too long to tell. However, I’m so happy for them that they finally made their way into the next chapter of their lives, together as husband and wife. Congratulations you two! May life smile sunshine down on you and bring you lots of happiness. You deserve it.
Not only do these guys clean up well, but they totally rocked their wedding day photos. They both looked stunning. Robert and Bailey also rocked their engagement photo session. Check out their Mackenzie King Estate engagement photos that we shot this past spring.

This past weekend I shot an outdoor maternity session. I’m currently working on the photos. However, I wanted to give this Ottawa-Gatineau area maternity session sneak peek. It was a little cool, but such a pretty night. Just look at that golden light.

Can I just say how cute these guys are? You can tell from looking at their Ottawa Arboretum summer engagement photos that they had a fun time laughing their way through their photo shoot. Ok, well Rahel was laughing and giggling more than Chris was, but I still got some great shots of the both of them. It was a super hot day (31°C, but felt like 36°C with the humidity factor). We were all kind of melting during the shoot, but it still ended up turning out fabulous. Just look at these two in front of the camera. They rocked their engagement photo session. Here are the photos to prove it. I look forward to shooting their wedding next September.

A little over a month ago I shot Alex and Tanya’s Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club wedding. It called for rain and a possible thunderstorm, but luckily it didn’t end up doing anything, but be sunny. With that said, it was a super hot day, about 40°C with the humidex. Now imagine wearing a suit and tie or a wedding dress in a church with no air conditioning. That was our wedding group. We all made it through the hot church ceremony and then went on with the rest of the festivities.
Everyone headed over to Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club for the reception. While everyone was mingling during cocktail hour, we took photos on the grounds of the golf club. Hunt & Golf Club has very beautiful grounds. And their reception hall was beautiful with the beautiful decorations and lighting. Alex and Tanya have great taste in wedding decor.
The reception was fun. They had a great master of ceremonies. One of the games he had them play was a ‘he said, she said’ sort of thing. The had to choose who would most likely do what for each question. It was fun to see each other’s choices. Sometimes they’d be in sync and sometimes, they’d both think the opposite. It was quite entertaining to watch. After that game Mara and I headed out for the night. I’m sure that they all danced into the wee hours of the night. I wish all the best to these two. Congratulations!
Thanks to my 2nd shooter, Mara, for taking the photos of Alex getting ready.
Finally, this day wouldn’t be possible without the talents of the following Ottawa wedding vendors:
Fall is just around the corner. It’s such a pretty time of year. And since it’s such a pretty time of year, it’s also a great time to update your family photos. Just imagine your family against a vivid backdrop of orange, yellow and red leaves. It’s only about two weeks when the fall leaves are in all of their bright and colourful glory. That’s a pretty short time. And it goes by quickly, trust me. Sometimes I get people contacting me a couple of days before fall is finished asking to schedule a photo shoot asap. And most of the time, my schedule is already full and I can’t accommodate. So, book your fall family photo session before all of the slots are booked up.
As a natural light photographer, I rely on daylight while shooting portraits. Natural light can be so beautiful. That’s why I love to use it. However, as the days grow shorter, the light fades much earlier in autumn. So, we’d need to start shooting around 3:30 pm in order to have enough daylight for the photo session. And since a lot of people can’t get off work early or get their kids out of school early, that leaves the weekend. As I mentioned earlier, fall just lasts about two weeks once the leaves are all turned and when they fall off. That leaves just two weekends to shoot fall portraits. I don’t want anyone to be disappointed that they can’t book a fall session. So, seize the day and contact me today.autumn
When was the last time you took family photos? Yeah. I thought so. How about we make some up-to-date ones? Contact me to book your family portrait session. Do it now, before the leaves change. Fall doesn’t last that long and it books up pretty quickly. So, book before it’s too late.
