Mackenzie King Estate Winter Engagement
This week I shot a Mackenzie King Estate winter engagement photo session with these two lovely people. They’re both from Newfoundland, so they were super friendly. I gotta say how much I love Newfies. They’re always such down-to-earth people. Isn’t that right Jackie? Anyway, it was a pleasure to work with them.
We were lucky that it was only -1°C and no longer windy, unlike on the weekend, which was super windy and cold. Despite it being relatively warm for winter, they were troopers to do the entire engagement photo session without wearing their coats. I mean, I came wearing my snow pants, coat, toque and mitts.
I’m super happy with how the photos turned out. I also super happy that we were able to do this session at Mackenzie King Estate, since I found out just days before that Gatineau Park was officially closed for winter. So, as usual, I went to scope out the location to make sure that everything would work out. I had visited Mackenzie King Estate on Christmas day a couple of years ago, so I knew that there was a way to get in without having to driving through Gatineau Park. I figured it out, drove all the way there to make sure that we could get in. Luckily, another entrance was still open, so it was all good. Most of the fall leaves had already fallen. However, I think that the ruins at Mackenzie King Estate made for such pretty backdrops for their winter engagement session.
If you’re newly engaged and wanting to do an engagement portrait session, I’d love to hear from you. Get a hold of me to book your session. I shoot outdoor portrait sessions in and around Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau, Quebec.
